The Sensiblu Foundation was set up in March 2002, with the strong wish
of being closer to different categories of persons in need in an
active way and to raise the quality of their lives.
One
of the most serious problems identified in the Romanian society
is the domestic violence, and to contribute positively to this phenomenon
a project named “CASA BLU” was initiated. Through this
project women and children, victims of domestic violence, are being
helped to reorganize their life socially, psychologically and physically
speaking.
A counseling center and a shelter are active through
the “CASA BLU” program. The services offered are from
social counseling to psychological and legal one, shelter, food,
clothes, medicines, and support in finding a job and also a new
home. The project develops with the help of the own hall of the
3rd district, UNICEF, the Bucharest Police General Department and
the Sensiblu pharmacy network
After four years of “CASA BLU” activity,
over 535 women together with 678 children called for help and
benefited of the services offered by the foundation. Only in 2005,
a number of 207 women and 222 children got assistance from the
personnel of the foundation.
During 20-23 June 2005, in Bucharest,
The Sensiblu Foundation held the training "Aspects of Domestic Violence",
in collaboration with the Est-European Institute for Healthy Reproduction
in Tirgu - Mures. The training participants were proximity police officers
from the six sectors in Bucharest and from DGPMB, representatives of the
General Direction of Social Assistance and Child Protection in the 3rd
sector of Bucharest. The training was part of the constant effort of the
Foundation to form a network of specialists at local level to fight
domestic violence, thus contributing to the efficiency of the actions
aiming to prevent and combat this phenomena.
Between 25 November - 10 December 2005, 2006 and 2007
known at international lever as V-Days - 16 Days of Activism against
Violence on Women, The Sensiblu Foundation together with Sensiblu company,
run a series of actions to promote a harmonious couple life without violence.
The White Ribbons campaign aimed to involve
men to fight against domestic violence, which affects especially women and
children.
The expo Silent Witnesses represents a way
of commemorating the women who got killed by their partners during the year
2005 and 2006 in a public space, 14 silhouettes wearing on their faces their story
of the woman who got killed, have been exposed for 16 days. The expo ended
on 10 December, the International Day for Human Rights, with a vigils night
with candles.
In 2007, Sensiblu Foundation rised in the center of Bucharest, a "Wall of Indifference" where people could read the stories of all the women who were killed by their husband, father or son, since 2004. On 10December 2007, public persons, journalists and public broke down the Wall of indifference to show their disapproval of gender violence.
